Swami's Interview to Doctors Group

I am enclosing the message which Sri Sathya Sai baba had given to the doctors group who visited Puttaparthi. Swami was gracious enough to have granted us
with a group interview. I am enclosing the message He had given us.

Aum Sri Sai Ram

My humble pranams to the lotus feet of Bhagwan Baba.

I would like to share with you all brothers and sisters of
Sai family... the wonderful experience we, the doctors of Visakhapatnam have had recently with Swami.

Swami was gracious enough to bless us with a group interview in the Prasanthi Mandir on 21/08/2000. Swami was the very embodiment of Love…

He blessed us (a group of 85 doctors from Visakhapatnam, with his divine message.

With His grace, I would like to share with you all the ineffable joy we
had experienced in His divine presence.

Some of the salient points from this interview:

Swami started His message, emphasizing the importance of Time in one's life.
He stressed upon the correct utilization of time. He said many are wasting their time, thereby their lives in bad thoughts, words and deeds.

He, who is the Doctor of doctors was in a jovial and happy mood. He started asking questions to some of the senior doctors in the group. He asked various questions related to medicine and treatment of diseases.

The senior doctors, some of whom were renowned experts in their respective specialities were enchanted with our doctor of doctors, who in His usual inscrutable and divine way explained the intricacies of medicine in simple yet lucid manner.

Swami said that man has two hearts… One the physical heart on the left side and a second one on the right side, which was (hrth+daya), from which feelings such as compassion, forgiveness, etc arise.

Swami compared this heart to a pen. He said this heart reflects upon on one's personality based upon what feelings it is filled with, in the same way a pen writes in the same color of its ink.

He repeated the same message the next day, in his discourse on Krishnajansthami. He was gracious enough to mention about our group in His  message.

Later, Swami asked one of the doctors, who was a chest physician,
What medicine he prescribed for tuberculosis (TB) for which the doctor said he prescribed antibiotics such as ethambutol, etc.

Swami, our divine master smiled and said, antibiotics can cause side effects on the body. He said antibiotics show their reflection and resound by the way of their adverse effects.

Later, He said patients must be given good food and made to do good exercises, in order to get them to back to normal. Here, he stressed upon importance of taking satwick food.

Later, He asked one of doctors what was normal body temperature. After the doctor replied, he said as even a slight rise in body temperature is injurious and dangerous, in the same way, anything beyond a certain limit is dangerous to life.

He went on to tell us about control of anger. He said there were many ways of controlling anger such as drinking a glass of water, doing puja, etc.
He said it arises basically from one's inherent weakness. It reflects on one's own shortcomings. He emphatically said that one should not indulge in criticism. He said to realise oneness in everything.

He asked one of the doctors, how many numbers are there in this world. When the doctor said 100. 1000 etc, Swami smiled and said that there is only one number. That is one (1), everything else arises only after addition or deletion of this number. In the same way, Swami said everyone represented the manifestation of the divine; so one shouldn't indulge in criticism.

Swami stressed upon Ayurveda, saying that it was one of the most ancient methods of treatment, nearly 3000 years old. He said it did not involve any medicines with adverse effects. He said Allopathy supresses the diseases, whereas Ayurveda, cures the disease.

He next said that people think that modern day diseases, such as hypertension, heart diseases, weren't present in olden days. He said they were present in olden days or in past, but they never were troubled by them because in the past, people were not subjected to polluted environment and bad habits.

Now-a-days, Swami said one is exposed to polluted environment in form of polluted air, water and food. It is further compounded with bad habits.
I was enchanted with this point, as how Swami clearly explained to us , the epidemiological principle of Agent, Host and Environment.

He asked us to do service in association of local samithis. He stressed upon of point “Dil me ram, Hath me kaam "; He said one should not feel whatever service he is doing is small or insignificant. He said one should think, while cutting vegetables, he is cutting down his desires, while rolling chapathi's, one should think that he is expanding his heart.

He mentioned that he uses harsh tone sometimes. He said he does it with
a purpose and it will be beneficial to the people, to whom he is
Harsh with. Here He quoted the example of Sage Durvasa, and how his
Anger saved Pandavas during Kurukskestra battle.

He also said one should realise the importance of God. He gave the example of computer and composer. He said everyone thinks that computer is great, but one who Composes on the Computer is much greater.

One of the doctors asked regarding building a bus shelter, for which
Swami replied saying that he wished people not to waste money on temples etc,
He said He wished that everyone builds a temple of God in their hearts like Meerabai.

Later, Swami blessed all of us with Padanamaskarams and Prasadam. Many of the doctors, to whom this was their first visit, it was one of the immemorable moments in their lives.

All of us were very happy and felt blessed. Swami had asked us to leave the next day after Krishnajanmasthami. We attended the Festival and left by afternoon.

We realised the importance of Swami's words later. When we had
reached Visakhapatnam safely. The next few days, due to heavy rains
many railway tracks were damaged leading to trains being cancelled.

Our trip to Parthi has really exhilarated and motivated both junior
doctors like me and many senior doctors alike, as we embark in our medical profession with renewed vigour owing to blessings from Our beloved Swami.

Jai Sai Ram
